Fjällräven Kånken Art 2021: With a love for art and the oceans

Swedish illustrator and animator Linn Fritz therefore symbolically presents a series of backpacks and accessories with an original print inspired by the issue of plastics in the oceans on June 8, World Ocean Day. Some of the money has traditionally gone to support the Arctic Fox Initiative. The oceans cover 71% of the Earth's surface, are home to more than a million different animals and even more plants. In addition, they significantly affect the climatic conditions and thus the life of each of us. That is why ocean pollution is a global problem that can have fatal consequences. The third limited edition of Kånken Art wants to help inspire people to change and contribute to the effort to reverse the current situation.

Linn Fritz, the author of this year's collection, designed a motif inspired by the endless water surface in two color versions - Ocean Surface and Deep Ocean. "This project was a real challenge for me, because I have never designed a fabric print. At work, I used cut pieces of plastic, which I folded in various ways, until I created the right pattern. And when I saw the first finished backpack, it was the best reward for hard work, "Linn describes, adding:" The cooperation with Fjällräven was very pleasant. I think we are in the same mood and share similar values. We know that the future of nature is also our future, and that is why we must take care of the environment around us before it is too late.

All Kånken Art products are made of G-1000 HeavyDutyEco, which is not only functional and durable, but also sustainable, as it is made from a blend of recycled polyester and organic cotton. In addition to the classic Kånken backpack variant (EUR 109.99), the Kånken Mini (EUR 99.99) and Kånken Sling (EUR 79.99), for example, will be available in the original design. As in previous years, this time Fjällräven donates part of the proceeds from the sale of this collection through the Arctic Fox Initiative to support projects aimed at helping the environment.

Two of this year's supported projects deal with reducing the amount of waste in nature. The first, the American non-profit organization Leave No Trace Center for Outdoor Ethics, conducts professional research, educates people and advises them on how to behave more responsibly in nature. The 2 Minute Foundation is a British organization that believes that even small actions lead to big results.
